I am about to fly, so let me first break down!

A Glorious Exploration of a breakdown

Breaking down! What a glorious topic... And yet... we don't dare to talk about it so openly. But I think it’s a subject worth of exploring!

Of course, there is a song from Florence and the Machine called "Breaking Down." I find that title FANTASTIC. It might sounds dramatic and negative, but to me, it represents something completely natural and beautiful. It symbolizes transformation, just like a butterfly emerging from its cacoon!

I believe it's normal to "break down" many times in life because it indicates change. Each breakdown signifies the closure of a chapter, as our desires, ambitions and perspectives evolve throughout different life phases. What we once desired may no longer interest us and vice versa! Accepting these changes can sometimes be challenging. Maybe even more so in our regions, where that mental toughness prevails, where the comfort zone is our greatest protection. Or the greatest barrier… We hold on to the familiar, even when it no longer serves us, fearing the unkown ahead.

So what actually happens? Musical Inspiration

When our inner being screams for change, urging us to take a new path, knowing that this path is needed and good for us, we accumulate these desires until we reach a breaking point. That's when a crack happens... the breaking of the shell, and we break down (once again). The breakdown and the fall are neither pleasant nor easy - but it seems to me that they are only difficult if we resist them. We resist letting go because we perceive breakdowns as negative. But a breakdown, a fall is a natural process! Just like leaves falling in autumn, nature enters a winter sleep only to awaken and bloom anew in spring. We transform a hundred times, and each time, we grow even bigger from it. Life’s various stages lead us down different paths, assuming diverse roles. To believe that everything should remain the same is to deny the essence of evolution! I adore how Florence sings about breaking down in that song, accompanied by beautiful music... piano, violins, almost like you can't wait to (once again) burst open. Because you know that a new cycle, a new reflection follows. The fall becomes the catalyst for growth!

The question is not whether you will or will not break down, but once when you do, do you allow yourself to slow down, rest and realign? And how do you put it into practice?

The Breaking Point: A Natural Process of Evolution

My most recent one was related to my career. It was about advertising, which I adored. My body knew for some time that it was the end of that cycle, but my mind refused to accept it. I had invested so much effort and passion, my time and my energy into this field and acknowledging that his era might be over was diffucult. But life has its ways of communicating with us. It sends messages we are able to recognise (or, UNTIL, we are able to recognise them). And so, I broke down. It felt like something wasn't right; I needed to slow down and get back to myself. So I took a break for a couple of months. I went traveling, met my friends and family, watched sunsets, did yoga. My whole nervous system was recalibrating. Out of it, things were born that I never thought would be... Some people left, some people came in. The same happend with ideas.

Breaking Free from Old Patterns

When you feel like breaking down, it means you are breaking FREE from your old patterns that no longer serve you. Whether you welcome it or not, it’s an opportunity for growth.

So today I am inviting you, when your inner being starts calling upon a change, embrace the calling and let it guide you. One of the ways of slowing down and aligning with self is planned on the upcoming retreats that Purple Aura put together! It is on cooking retreats where we are aligning with self through food. Check them out here, and if it something that is calling upon you… Well, we are delighted to see you there!

Until then, I wish you most beautiful
Purple Aura!

Xx,
Maria
